Access Policy

Access to the University Library is controlled and a University card is required for entry by University of York staff and students. External users must report to staff at the Library entrance, where they will be directed to the Borthwick reception and search room and met by a SafePod Coordinator.

Accessibility

The entrance to the University Library can be reached using external lifts at the Library bridge (next to the Security Centre) and from the Campus North car park. There is an accessible gate next to the entrance turnstiles for those with mobility aids. A lift is available to the search room and Burton Reading Room, and there is an accessible toilet nearby.
