The Main Library is located on the University of Dundee campus at Small's Wynd, Dundee, DD1 4HN. The entrance to the building is on the corner of Small's Wynd and Cross Row. The library is located within 20 minutes walking distance of the Dundee bus and railway stations and the campus is on a local bus route.

Fire Alarm Information

In the event of a fire alarm please leave the building by the nearest available exit and proceed to the assembly point located at the front of the building. Lift at East end of Main Library only can be used during a fire evacuation.

Access Policy

The Main Library operates with proximity card secure entry system, current University staff and students will be required to scan their University of Dundee ID card for entry to the building. All external visitors should have prior approval and report to reception to request admittance.

Our policy on face coverings aligns with current Scottish Government guidelines. Cleaning materials are provided for keyboards, mice and desks: please clean SafePod touch points before and after your session.


Access is by the main front entrance, on Small's Wynd. The SafePod is on level 2 of the building, the lift is located through the gates and to the right-hand side. Lone Working Policy

There is no lone working policy. Use of this SafePod is unsupervised.

Notice of disruption to service.
The top floor of the University main library, where the SafePod is situated, will undergo extensive refurbishment between 17 June 2023 and 31 October 2023, inclusive. We anticipate the SafePod will be fully operational in early November 2023. Please contact us if you plan to use the Safepod during this period.
