LSE SafePoint Hub launch!

The SafePod Network in partnership with the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) is delighted to announce the launch of the new LSE SafePoint Hub.  The Hub will provide researchers with four new secure data access points for important public benefit research.   The Hub is based on the 4th floor of the LSE library and will launch on the 20th January 2026!  Bookings for the SafePoint Hub can be made from this date onwards now.

Professor Susana Mourato, who is Vice President and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research), said:
“We are proud to host the first ever SafePoint Hub, reinforcing LSE’s commitment to investing in state-of-the-art research infrastructure. Trusted access to high-quality administrative data is essential for impactful social science, and this Hub places LSE at the forefront of secure data access. Located within the LSE Library — the British Library of Political Science — it also strengthens our role as a national and international resource for social scientists beyond our own institution.”

SAFEPOINT DESK TYPES
The Hub features:

  • Two SafePoint SingleDesks (which can accommodate up to two researchers each working on the same project).
  • A SafePoint MultiDesk which has two SingleDesks divided by a partition.  The desks can be booked independently of one another, or can be transformed into one large collaboration desk to enable up to four researchers to work on the same project together.

DATA AVAILABILITY
From launch, researchers will be able to access their project data at a SafePoint Desk from the following Data Centres:

Office for National Statistics
UK Data Service
Scottish Government
Luxembourg Income Study
