The SafePod is located on the first floor of our City Campus Library. The A1(M) passes through Newcastle upon Tyne and direct rail services run from many UK cities to Newcastle Central Station. The nearest Metro station is Haymarket and the nearest bus terminal is Haymarket Bus Station.

If the fire alarm goes off please leave the building via the nearest fire exit and follow any instruction provided to you by the SafePod Coordinator. The closest fire exit, escape staircase and fire assembly point will be signposted to users at induction.

Access Policy

For Northumbria staff and students, access to the Library is via University Smartcard.

For researchers external to Northumbria University, please report to Student Central on the ground floor of City Campus Library. Access into the secure area will be provided by a SafePod Coordinator.

Bookings must be received by the Northumbria SafePod Coordinators a minimum of three working days before the date the SafePod is required. Booking requests go to the Data Centre for approval before they reach the Northumbria SafePod Coordinators, so please factor this in when planning your SafePod booking.

Accessibility

The SafePod is located on the first floor of our City Campus Library. There is an access ramp at the entrance from the Library Quad, and flat access from both St Mary's Place and Sandyford Road.

All floors of the City Campus Library are accessible by lift and all floors have automatic doors on entry and exit.

Accessible toilets are available on the ground and first floors of the Library, and toilet cubicles with wider space and additional support are available on all floors.

There is no lone working policy. Use of this SafePod is unsupervised.
